Our Story

Our adventure begins back in 2015, when Dana’s mom was diagnosed with celiac disease—a condition where an immune response to gluten damages the small intestine. The prescription? In a nutshell, people living with celiac have to avoid foods that contain even trace amounts of gluten to avoid adverse reactions, which often means saying goodbye to not only favorite pasta entrées and sub shops but also many of the other consumables we know and love. Did you know that even some skincare products contain gluten? From salad dressings and chips to granola and soups, gluten can lurk around virtually any corner.

Dana had always loved baking with her mom and sister, and celiac disease made things a bit more... interesting. However, they decided to face the challenge and explore a space that was, at the time, largely uncharted: gluten-free baking. They’ve spent nearly a decade making countless desserts, celebrating some delicious victories and learning from less conventionally successful ventures. A scientist by training, Dana began carefully experimenting with different ingredients and strategies to craft original recipes for not only bakery staples but also unique sweets she hadn’t seen anywhere else, creating “tasty treats that happen to be gluten-free.”

Late in the summer of 2024, Dana and her husband, Andrew, welcomed two miracles into the world: a cheerful baby boy followed several minutes later by his firecracker of a sister. After moving back to their roots up north and inspired by their intrepid twins, they decided it was finally time for Dana to share her love of baking with the rest of the world—especially those who struggle with celiac disease or other gluten-intolerant conditions. But we’re not trying to simply provide gluten-free versions of the classics, instead aiming to deliver innovative treats that are better and bolder than your standard cookie. Always at the heart of Dana’s creations is the goal to make one-of-a-kind confections that are safe enough for her mom to enjoy. We hope you enjoy them, too!
